吉田直嗣展　-HAZAKAI-　を開催いたします。
黒田泰蔵氏のアシスタントを務めていた時代に伊豆高原で過ごしていた吉田直嗣、
作家としての出発の地といえる場所、様々に縁が結ばれた伊豆での個展となります。
本展のために意欲的に臨んだ新作とともに、空間に寄り添うシンプルで美しいうつわをご覧いただけます。

-HAZAKAI-
一つ作るたびにまた新しい先に行けるように、いつでも端境に自分を置いていたい。
一つの結果をお終いとして捉えず、次へ続く連続として考えることで常に先への期待を持つ。
移ろうようにまどろむように、でもその実ほんとうは進んでいけるなら後になって振り返る必要もなく、今だけに集中していける。
そういう作り方が自分の理想だと近頃よく思う。
SHOKEN IZUは自分がアシスタントとして住んでいたところからほど近く、
この時期の濃密な空気感を思い出す。
たっぷりした湿度は、我先に葉を伸ばす木々の力強さが故に溢れた水分を含むような匂いをはらんでいる。
その匂いのするような器を作ってみた。
いま僕の作りたい器をいま見てもらえるという機会です。
ご高覧いただければ幸甚です。

吉田直嗣

I want to always keep myself on the edge so that I can go to a new destination each time I make a new product.
I do not see one result as the end, but as a continuation of the next, so that I always have expectations of what is to come.
If I can move forward as if I am slumbering, but in reality I am moving forward, then I do not have to look back later and can concentrate only on the present.
I have often thought recently that such a way of making things is my ideal.

SHOKEN IZU is not far from where I lived as an assistant.
It reminds me of the dense atmosphere of this time of year.
The humidity is rich with the smell of moisture from the trees as they grow their leaves.
I tried to make utsuwa that smell like that.

This is an opportunity for you to see the utsuwa I want to make now.
I would be very happy if you could see it.

YOSHIDA NAOTSUGU

1976年静岡県生まれ。白磁作家・黒田泰蔵氏に師事。独立後は富士山の麓、自然の美しい場所に工房を構え、白磁と鉄釉による白と黒の器を作る。洗練されたかたちと深い色合い、ディテールにこだわった質感や凛とした美しさは、誰にも真似のできないオリジナリティに溢れている。

Born in Shizuoka prefecture in 1976. Ceramist based in Shizuoka prefecture. Studied under the Hakuji ceramist, Taizo Kuroda. After becoming an independent ceramist, started creating black utsuwa characterized by Tetsuyu iron glaze with beautiful form and deep shades.
