新潟県長岡市で作陶を行う矢尾板克則の小屋展を開催いたします。

「小屋」は、それぞれの心象風景と重なるように存在し、

観る人の記憶を呼び起こし、静かに語りかけます。

SHOKEN IZUの空間で「小屋」はどんな表情を見せてくれるのでしょうか。

初めて小屋を作ったのは18年前、秋から冬に変わる季節の頃でした。
当時の気候や自分の境遇や感情に突き動かされるまま後先考えず小屋は生まれました。
完成した事で満足でした。
その後は幾つかオファーがある時だけ作って継続して作ることは考えていませんでした。
量産できるものでもないし注文を受けるものでもないし、変な位置に小屋は立っていました。

最初の小屋から見てくれてた祥見さんはそんな心境を察してくれたのか、ちょうどよい距離感をさぐりながら小屋展の依頼をしてくれました。少しずつ小屋も変化したように思います。

久しぶりに小屋を作るとき、頭は空っぽでどこから取り掛かっていいのか分からず、いつも戸惑います。遠くから傍観しています。

「作る」ってどういう事なんでしょう

18年前見た小屋は、高速道運転中に一瞬目に飛び込んできた小屋。
後日下道で探し回っても見つける事は出来ませんでした。

その時の「距離感」のまま
いまも作っているんだと思います。

The first time I built a hut was 18 years ago, around the time of the transition from fall to winter.
Driven by the climate of the time, my circumstances, and my emotions, the hut was born without any second thoughts.
I was satisfied with its completion.
After that, I only made a few more when I had some offers, and did not think about continuing to make them.
It was not something that could be mass-produced or ordered, and the hut stood in an odd position.

Mrs. Shoken, who had been watching me since the first hut, must have sensed this state of mind, because he asked me to hold a hut exhibition while trying to find just the right distance. I think the hut has changed little by little.

When I build a hut for the first time in a while, my mind is empty and I am always at a loss as to where to start. I watch from the sidelines from afar.

What does “make” mean?

The hut I saw 18 years ago was a hut that caught my eye for a moment while driving on the highway.
I couldn’t find it even if I looked around for it later on the lower road.

I think I am still making it today.

Born in Niigata prefecture in 1969. Ceramist based in Nagaoka-shi, Niigata prefecture. Creates colorful utsuwa and objects that are full of poetic sentiment. The nostalgic halftone shades are reminiscent of well-known landscapes that express his unique view of the world.
